Sony Releases Xperia Tablet Z – World’s Thinnest, Dust and Water Proof
With the boiling trend of tablets in the world, Sony has released its one more flagship tablet which it called as the world’s thinnest 10.1-inch tablet. Sony has christened its as Xperia Tablet Z at MWC and exposes the features of this amazing device.
Sony Xperia Z is just 6.9mm in thickness and weighs 495 grams. The best feature that makes this tablet worthy is its water resistant capacity. You put this tablet in water up to 3 feet deep and it will still function normally. The device runs on the latest Android platform, 4.1 Jelly Bean and sports full HD screen with 1920 by 1200 pixels resolution. This makes clear that the device has great potential to show crystal clear and realistic views. Watching a HD movie on this screen is just like exploring the realm of nature through your naked eyes.
Sony Xperia Z tablet is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor which is mated to a 2GB RAM. Other features that this device includes are a powerful 8 megapixel rear camera which is barely given on other tablets in the market and a 2 megapixel front facing camera which makes video calling more interesting. Owners are offered with two choices – 16GB variant and a 32GB variant along with a microSD card slot which can take up to 64GB storage capacity.
Sony also claims that the tablet is resistant to dust and water. It can endure up to 3 feet of water for 30 minutes, which means your tablet is total safe from dust as well as water. You can even access it in rainy days without worrying for your device getting wet in water.
As far as software is concerned, Sony’s new invention runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS as mentioned above and can even upgrade 4.2 version of Android soon after its launch. This tablet incorporates IR blaster which functions as a remote control for TV and also functions with TV SlideView app. It lets users to see a TV guide in the app itself.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z is tagged at $499 for a 16GB Wi-Fi model and the 32GB version costs $599. This tablet will be available in global market where Indian owners can buy it for approx. Rs. 26,946.
