Samsung Africa announces Galaxy Pocket Neo and Galaxy Star

Samsung Africa announces Galaxy Pocket Neo and Galaxy Star. Both these handsets are made for budget users and come with three inches display, two megapixels camera, four gigabytes internal storage, and have dual SIM capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo is offered in 2 colour options – blue black and ceramic white. Samsung Galaxy Star has two colour options as well – ceramic white and scarlet black. Both these phones will be available for South Africa initially and rest of the world will get it later.

Galaxy Pocket Neo comes with a three inches QVGA screen which is a bit small as compared to other high end smartphones out there. However, this is a budget phone and the manufacturer has compromised on the specs to keep the price low.

There is also a two megapixels camera which will churn out 1,600×1,200 megapixel photos. Do not expect stellar quality images from this camera as it has low resolution. This phone runs on Cortex A9 processor but we can’t tell you much about the performance as we haven’t tested this phone yet.

There is four gigabytes of internal memory and not all will be availbale for the users. Some will be occupied by Android OS. There is 512MB RAM inside too. Connectivity options on this phone include USB 2.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0. Tehre is also HSPA 7.2/5.6 MBPS for fast data transfer.

The other phone is Samsung Galaxy Star having Android 4.1 OS inside. The specifications of this phone are largely the same as the aforementioned phone except for EDGE. There is no 3G here and hence the price of this phone will be lower than Galaxy Pocket Neo. Other features include Touch Wiz Nature UX, three inches QVGA screen, two megapixels camera, 4GB internal storage, 512 MB RAM, EDGE, Dual SIM capabilities, etc.
