Idea unveils the Zeal, an Android 2.3 dual SIM smartphone for Rs. 5,390
Idea Cellular recently announced a new Android smartphone for India called Zeal. This handset has older Gingerbread aka Android 2.3.6 OS inside. This phone runs on 1GHz Snapdragon Qualcomm processor and there is 256MB RAM. There is also microSD slot for memory expansion up to 32GB.
Zeal has dual SIM capabilities and it is available for a price of 5,390. It has three-and-half inches touch screen with 320×480 pixels resolution. For photography, there is three megapixels camera having digital zoom and autofocus.
Idea says that this smartphone will help them to upgrade their existing users from 2G to 3G. Other connectivity options on this phone include Bluetooth, A-GPS, and Wi-Fi. There are also few apps preloaded on this phone like Idea TV, YouTube, Orkut, Twitter, and Facebook.
Idea said that they will be targeting this phone at younger community like college students who wish to stay connected on Facebook and access e-mails all the time.
Idea says that they have been trying hard to promote the spread of 3G in India and for this, they have improved their network coverage, apps, devices, and customer service. Idea Zeal has been launched to enhance the user experience and the price has been kept low to make this device affordable for everyone. Idea says that with such devices, customers will readily move from 2G and accept faster 3G speeds.
Idea is also offering attractive 3G data plans for their customers who buy the Zeal. With Zeal, customers can get the option of 1 GB free 3G data use for first three months with three months of free Idea TV usage for Rs. 261.
Zeal isn’t the only smartphone from Idea; they previously launched handsets like Idea Blade, ID 918, Idea Aurus, and Idea Ivory. The prices range from Rs. 5,390-7,992.
