iBall announces Edu-Slide i-1017 – Android 4.1 tablet priced at Rs. 12,999

iBall recently announced new tablet for Indian consumers called iBall Edu-Slide i-1017. This tablet is tailor made according to the needs of Indian students.

iBall Edu-Slide i-1017 comes with 10.1 inches display and it has 1,280×800 pixels resolution. Inside, there is Cortex A9 dual core processor having 1.2GHz clock speed with mali G400 GPU. This tablet has 1 GB RAM and it runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS inside.

iBall Edu-Slide i-1017 comes with eight gigabytes internal storage and there is also microSD card slot for further expansion. For photography, this tablet has two megapixels camera on back and front facing VGA camera. The price of this tablet is Rs. 12,999.

iBall has made this tablet especially for students and hence it comes pre-loaded with education content courtesy of eTeach. The tablet will come with educational material out of the box from Std. 1-12 for SSC (Maharastra) and CBSE boards for English medium. There is also Marathi medium content offered for SSC board students from grades 5-10.

As an introductory offer, the course material for one standard is given for free. Also, customers who purchase this tablet before April 15 2013 will get to download content for one more standard.

On the launch of iBall Edu-Slide i-1017, Sandeep Parasrampuria  said that they have made this tablet to complement the education system and not to replace it. He also said that good quality educational content isn’t available widely and hence they have taken an initiative in this field. The manufacturer wants to make optimum use of technology and create a good environment for easy learning.

iBall isn’t the only tablet maker  to step in to the education sector. In fact, it is the third player after Datawind (Akash) and Micromax Funbook.
