HCL unveils three new ME tablets running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS

HCL Infosystems recently revealed 3 new HCL ME tablets – ME Y3, ME V1, and ME U2. HCL held an event for this with their new brand ambassador – Unmukt Chand, the Indian winning captain of U-19 world cup.

Some of the key features in these tablets are voice calling, 3G video calling, Android 4.0 or ICS, dual SIM capabilities, educational apps, Wi-Fi, etc.

HCL ME U2 price is Rs. 5,999, HCL ME V1 price is Rs. 11,999, HCL ME V1 price is Rs. 7,999. Global head at HCL, Gautam Advani, said that they were delighted to sign Unmukt Chand as their brand ambassador for these tablets. He also said that Chand’s passion and exuberance is apt personification on these HCL tablets. Advani said that ME Tabs are targeted towards the younger audiences and hence Chand would be a good brand ambassador.

Let’s see these three tablets in detail –

HCL ME Y3 – HCL ME Y3 comes with Cortex A9 one GHZ processor and there are features like FM radio and GPS built in. There is mini HDMI port as well. This tablet can take 2 SIMs at a time. Y3 comes with seven inches display having resolution of 1,024×600 pixels, 4 GB storage space, and 1 GB RAM. There is also a microSD card for more memory. This tablet comes with 0.3 MP camera on front and 3.2 MP camera on the back.

HCL ME V1 – HCL ME V1 is also called phablet by HCL which means it is a combination of phone and tablet. This device has voice receiver integrated and there are calling options too. For surfing the Internet, there EDGE support.

V1 also comes with dual cameras, 1 GB RAM and proximity sensor. This tablet has seven inches screen with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. For storing stuff, there is 4GB internal memory and microSD card for further expansion. There is also 1 GB RAM inside. This tablet comes with 2 MP camera at the back and 0.3 MP camera on the front.

HCL ME U2 – HCL ME U2 has 1GHz Cortex A9 chip, 4GB internal storage, and 1 GB RAM. There is also microSD card which accepts up to 32 GB cards. The unique feature on this tablet is that it has access to Google PlayStore which isn’t available on the other 2 devices. There is miniHDMI port and external dongle support. 3G data card isn’t supported though.

HCL ME U2 comes with seven inches WVGA screen having 800×480 pixels resolution. It has 0.3 MP front facing camera and there is no camera at the back.

All these tablets have Facebook, Twitter, NimBuzz, LinkedIn, Cleartrip, and Big-Flix preloaded. As introductory offer, the tablet maker is offering MyEduWord which is digital learning tool made by them. All these tablets will be launched in this month.
