Apple iPhone 4S : 4 million sold in 3 days

When Apple launched iPhone 4S in the local markets, it made history. Within a span of 3 days, from Friday to Sunday, about 4 million pieces were sold, breaking the previous record of 1.7 million iPhone 4 pieces in a weekend.

Although the success can be attributed to its new design and the excitement among customers to user iOS 5, wireless technology providers like Verizon and Sprint also plays a major role in this success story. iPhone 4 was available only to AT&T users. However iPhone 4S users can choose from AT&T, Verizon and Sprint.

iPhone 4S has some very important advantages over its predecessor. It gets a new dual-core processor, 1080p HD video recording, 8MP camera and a useful voice-based application Siri to name a few.

It seems that Apple is rapidly taking away a major part of smartphone market share enjoyed by other manufacturers. Out of the total buyers of iPhone 4S, about 25 percent were BlackBerry, Symbian or Android users.

Apple has also reported that about 35 million users are now using its new operating system iOS5 and about 20 million have subscribed for iCloud. These are just initial numbers. Most analysts are optimistic about the future of these services and believe that the numbers will go much higher.
