So, lets have some fun while exploring this all new device at such low price and find out what this low cost Android tablet has to offer to the Indian consumers.
Design and Display :
There is no charm in terms of design, but still it is good that Micromax has provided simple yet elegant looking device at low cost. It is a 7-inch Android 4.0 tablet that gets good value for money. The company has introduced its first tablet in the Indian tablet market with views of attracting more and more consumers towards its product. This new tablet features a 7 inch display and is slim in nature. The thickness is measured at 10 mm and the screen flaunts bezel around it which is pretty broad and could distract many users as its makes the look of the device from front poor.
The device becomes more attractive due to its low weight which measures just 350 grams. So, users can easily hold it without feeling like holding a heavy stone or something. Despite being an Android 4.0 tablet, the Micromax Funbook features three physical keys which are pretty hard keys rather than capacitive touch buttons that are found mostly in various tablets. Well, users now-a-day prefer using touch sensitive keys instead of hard keys which lower down the look of the device. However, thanks to the company that the hard keys are not that hard can be accessed easily with a smooth touch on them.
All the slots and ports of this Funbook such as microUSB port, SDcard slot, HDMI, 3.5 mm headset jack, and charging port can be found positioned at the bottom of this tablet. So, users would not find difficulty in accessing any of the port. The manufacturer also supplies a range of microUSB to full USB conversion adapter so that users could directly connect them to the 3G dongle, and the company is providing it for free with this device.
The Micromax Funbook tablet comes in Black and White colored body and looks beautiful in both the color choices. In terms of looks, the device is pretty charming and gets quality material.
This device features 7-inch capacitive screen (17.78 CM) with multi-touch capability and 800 by 400 pixels of screen resolution that also supports HD video playback. The touch response of its screen works effectively without any lag. Moreover, the color reproduction is bright as well as vibrant.
Processor and Performance :
The Micromax Funbook is equipped with a powerful 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor which is coupled with Mali 400 processor. Besides, 512 MB DDR3 RAM is also provided where no wonder, the company has provided more than enough features at such low cost.
The device runs very smoothly and follows all the commands given by the users instantly. So, overall the performance is decent, especially because of dual core Mali 400 which supports brilliant graphics.
There is only only camera that can be found positioned at the front of the device – a front facing video camera, 0.3 megapixels VGA. The camera can take acceptable picture and does effective job of video chat, but gives slower connection. Well, the manufacturer fails to provide good camera in this device at this price range. Well, this could be a bit disappointing for the users who want a good camera to perform most of the task easily.
The Micromax Funbook gets a 4 GB internal memory storage which is not a bad deal at all. However, you can expand the memory storage capacity of this device externally up to 32 GB via an SDcard. Still, you have to shell out extra money other than this device as the internal 4 GB would be mostly consumed by the essential software.
Locking Feature for Parents :
Now parents get opportunity to lock some features such as games and entertainment sections if they want to keep away from their children. This way, children would only be able to access the education section provided in this device.
The devices sits under its hood a powerful 2800 mAh battery that gives constant run for at least 8 hours on regular use.
Micromax tablet offers more than serving the field of education and features several built in apps such as Zenga and BigFlix. Micromax has provided Vriti platform which is a market place for education content. Content like books for school students, preparatory materials for competitive exams such as engineering and medical exams in various languages are included in the tablet. More than 30 partners are available with their contents that are listed in Vriti platform.
This content platform will keep expanding just like apps on Google’s Android market like Google Play. 1-year course of CBSE board school can also be taken with a cost of Rs. 800 where all the study materials along with test papers would be provided.
Until you use this device, you would hardly be able to rate this device. Still, the device features a range of advanced features for just Rs. 6,499. Parents whenever want can lock the sections so that their kids do not get access to them other than the education sections. The features given are very superb, but the most appealing part is that the price is very less and gives a battery backup for longer time.
