HCL ME tab Y3 preview – Decent hardware but no access to Google Play Store
HCL recently announced their first dual DIM Android tablet called HCL ME Tab Y3. This is also the second Indian dual SIM tablet. Other dual SIM tablet is made by Swipe and it is called Swipe Tab All In One.
HCL ME Tab Y3 is a seven inches tablet and we got to see it at its launch. The price of the device is Rs, 11,999 and we are giving you a short preview here. We will write a full review when we get the tablet in our offices for review.
Design
HCL ME Tab Y3 has a good design and feels good in the hands as well. Body of this tablet is made for metal and polycarbonate which makes the device look attractive and durable. The tablet looks very stylish and has just one colour option. On the front side, there is glass surface which makes the screen durable and scratch resistant.
Display
HCL ME Tab Y3 comes with seven inches screen having a resolution of 1,024×60 pixels. Higher pixel count makes videos look better. But the processor inside is a bit slow and hence you can’t play HD games. On the front, there is flush finish and this adds to the aesthetic value of the device. Close to the display, there is earpiece for making and receiving phone calls.
Price
HCL ME Tab Y3 price is Rs. 11,999. HCL has launched three tablets before this and the Y3 is the most expensive amongst them.
Dual SIM
HCL ME Tab Y3 has dual SIM capabilities. It has dual standby feature too. Primary SIM has 3G connectivity and other SIM only offers 2G connectivity.
Hardware
This tablet is powered by Cortex A9 single core processor and it is clocked at 1GHz frequency. There is 1GB DDR3 RAM inside and the GPU is Mali 400. All this hardware gives decent performance but don’t expect anything spectacular.
Android OS
HCL ME Tab Y3 runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 OS. However, there is no access to Google Play Store. Instead, HCL is giving its own ME APP store. It has good collection of games and apps but this is nothing compared to Google’s Play Store.
Storage
HCL ME Tab Y3 has four gigabytes of internal storage and there is microSD card slot which can accept up to 32GB cards.
Conclusion
We didn’t get to test this tablet thoroughly but the HCL ME Tab Y3 looks like a decent tablet with good feature set. Dual SIM feature lets you carry two SIM cars at a time and hence, there won’t be any connectivity problems.
This is just second dual SIM tablet in India and hence it is likely to get popular fast. This is a seven inches tablet but the price is as high as a ten inches tablet. It is still a decent deal with HCL offering a one year warranty.
