What is Google Play – Elaborated –

Google Play is the new name given by Google that replaces the older name Android Market. It offers a huge assortment of mobile apps to buy and download. The mobile giant has created it just like a supermarket where users can buy and enjoy free downloads without even going out of their home. One can simply download an app that supports bill payment or ticket booking. With the continuous upgrade of Android versions and apps, Google keeps changing more generic name for this program like Play Shop for phones.

In upgraded phones, you will find Google Play icon on homescreen rather than Android Market. The recent phones come with more upgraded apps where the name is replaced with Play Store. The new versions Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system offers Play Store in place of Android Market or Google Play.

What’s different?

Not much change can be found in this upgrade. Users can still access Google’s digital shop through Android phones. The only change can be found on the new icon on screen which changes to ‘Google Play’, ‘Play Shop’ and more recent ‘Play Store’. Many people find it confusing, but there is hardly any change visible apart from the change of icon name. Still you can access the market, explore the apps, download them, and enjoy the faster experiences. Android has much to offer which other OSes hardly offer.

All the old contents can still be found; just new logo has been used for some odd reason. You can access Google Play Movies and book shop which has been shifted to the name Google Play Books.

Google Play Syncing is a new system that the giant ensures to manage movies, books, music, apps, games and all in one place which users can access via Android devices or Web. This is a very effective and useful feature that doubles the Android Cloud based experiences.

Despite this, Google Play website is another part that has ditched the Android Market to bring the change in regular atmosphere. The website offers videos and books which are fully functional on a desktop and lets users check online contents. Users can also sync books and films across different laptops and desktop computers. However, for that you need an upgraded smartphone.

One significant change that you can find is Google’s Play app that comes with some new options. Now an “All” tab has been introduced in downloaded apps page where you can find the list of all the downloaded apps. All the oldest to new apps that you have downloaded can be found in this list. Users can review all the apps.

Google Music service is also offered as new in the new Google Play world. One can upload, sync and buy their music collections for cloud rather than depending on third party options.

A lot is to see in the new smartphones that have launched currently and present Play Store that has replaced Google Play and Android Market. Now the Play Store comes with much more excitements including free and charged entertainment apps and others.
