Display, Design and Hardware

The Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7170 separates itself from all ultrabooks and other portable laptops available in the market and provides some unique features what these high cost ultrabooks cannot provide. This laptop sports its 17.3 inches of wide screen and weighs 7.5 pounds which are more to be called as portable. However, the device has retained some really good features and dedicated multimedia controls that offers great gaming experience to the users.

The laptop looks sort of good but cannot be said as beautiful. Comparatively, it looks much identical to the more expensive model which is named as Qosmio X775-3DV78 launched last year. Just because the price is set at midrange this device gets to attract much of people who find good specs integrated in it at low price. The device flaunts its chrome plastic speaker grilles placed above the keyboard, red LED lights positioned on the touchpad, and media control buttons are some of the features that bring Alienware-lite effect to this device. The entire body of this laptop gives a feel of overly glossy plastic material used and this could become a major drawback to turn people toward other higher quality materials and built devices.

The device features raised island-type keys which are similar to those of earlier Toshiba laptops with Ctrl, large Shift, Page Down, Page Up, and other important keys and navigation keys. Well, this keyboard design works better on the bigger laptops as compared to smaller devices such as Portege Z835 ultrabook. The touchpad leaves abundant place for wrist rest and is very responsive. It has received matte finish and does not include too much finger drag over it. The Red LED light signals a button that activates and deactivates the touchpad as per the uses.

This midprice version has been provided with 1600 by 900 pixels display on a 17 inches of screen which is not a bad deal though for many unless you are a very serious gamer. No wonder, the screen quality is superb and audio comes from Harman Kardon speakers which is very impressive. Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7170 Review

Memory

The device offers inbuilt memory of 6GB (RAM) which could make a lot of saving of applications. Still, when it is a gaming laptop, you might night find it sufficient at all. Besides, 640GB hard drive is installed which is a great spec for users.

Performance and Processor

The Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7170 laptop features 640 GB, 7200 rpm hard drive and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M GPU that turns the gaming experience exhilarating and awe-inspiring. With this, an Intel Core i5 processor has been added that force the laptop to run quickly and smoothly. When you play game, there would not be any noticeable lag that you can find. So, you can enjoy playing games of your choice and this gadget would support your interest comfortably. Just the display could bring a little problem as serious gamers would demand something of 1920 by 1080 pixels display and this laptop just provides 1600 by 900 pixels which are comparatively less.

The laptop is equipped with 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 2450M processor and serves a memory of 6 GB, 1333 MHz DDR3. Its Intel HM65 chipset can show you some good performance with the help of a 64 bit Windows 7 Home premium operating system.

Battery

Verdict

Well, with this we can say that Toshiba has added a lot of good specs inside this X775, but what can be seen outside is simply a matter of shame. More because the world demands good looking, portable and decent devices instead of bad quality materials and too glossy plastics. Considering the Qosmio line laptops, Toshiba has always provided big and powerful desktop replacements, but the cons of this device is something that cannot be accepted so easily. The model also features some textured horizontal lines in it and red-silvery-gray lid. The best part about this laptop is that at least it has gained dual core Intel Core i5 CPU along with good GPU which is useful for gaming. Still, when compared with high end gaming devices, this laptop from Toshiba stands at the bottom of the list as most of the excellent gaming laptops are provided with quad core i7 processors which are highly superior to the i5 dual core CPU.

Still, the Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7170 laptop gives you good gaming experience due to the graphic options, but you have to skip the demand for higher screen resolution. Overall, this device provides decent performance, but cannot be compared with other high-end gaming devices in the market.
