Multi core processors in mobile phones were once considered a distant dream but we now have quad core CPUs in smartphones and they’ve got very popular due to their versatility. You can do a lot of things with such fast phones like TV connectivity, GPS navigation, high end applications, etc. These phones are getting closer to computers in terms of functionality and hence people aren’t hesitating to invest a lot of money on such devices. 1. HTC One X (Rs. 29,699) :
This phone is a bit old and HTC has bought HTC One X+ after that. However, I think that the predecessor gives better value for money as the newer don’t have a lot of new features to justify the bigger price tag. HTC One X has HTC Sense 4.0 UI inside having Android 4.0 ICS and there is Jelly Bean and Sense 4+ update offered for this phone. Indian language too is supported. HTC One X+ has 64GB internal memory and its performance is 25 per cent better than its predecessor. The newer handset will take some time to reach Indian shores as it was only launched recently in international markets.
That said, HTC One X still is a really good deal for its price. The cost went down by ten grand recently with the launch of HTC One X+.
2. Samsung Galaxy Note II (Rs. 34,600) :
When the first Samsung Galaxy Note came out, it immediately became popular due to its big size. With Note II, it is still biggest smartphone in the market from a foreign phone maker.
Samsung Galaxy Note II has 5.5 inches HD Super AMOLED screen having a resolution of 1,280×720 pixels. There is Exynos quad core processor inside to give you fast computing performance. There is Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean OS which has plenty of features and utility.
This ‘phablet’ has Samsung Exynos 4 quad core 1.6 GHz processor inside with 2GB RAM and Mali-400 MP GPU inside. This makes the phone better than Samsung Galaxy SIII. There is also something new called Popup Note here.

3. Samsung Galaxy SIII (Rs. 30,699) :
This phone has 4.8 inches HD Super AMOLED Plus PenTile touch screen display with resolution of 1,280×720 pixels. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 2 used on this screen to make it more durable against any scratches. This device is just 8.6 mm thick and has Samsung Exynos 4 quad core CPU inside having frequency of 1.4 GHz.
There are few new features inside this phone such as Smart Stay which keeps the display awake if anyone is looking. The screen automatically goes in to sleep mode when it doesn’t detect open eyes staring at it.
There is eight megapixels camera on back with LED flash and it lets you take photos even when you are recording videos. Front side has 1.9 MP camera to make video calls and it can record 720p HD video at 30 fps.

This is LG flagship cellphone and has True HD IPS 4.7 inches touchscreen having resolution of 1,280×720 pixels. There is 1.5 GHz quad core resolution inside having GeForce low power graphics chip. There is Android 4.0 ICS inside with LG’s Optimus 3.0 UI. Whether this phone will get Jelly Bean update or not isn’t known.
LG Optimus 4X HD comes with 1 GB RAM inside and there is 16GB onboard storage with microSD card slot for putting more memory. This handset is just 8.9mm thick and its weight is 133 grams. There is eight megapixels camera on the back with autofocus and LED flash. The camera can record 1080p HD videos at 30 fps.

This is Lenovo’s flagship phone and has 1.4 GHz quad core Samsung Exynos 4412 CPU inside. It also has Mali 400 MP GPU inside and this GPU is the same as that on SGS III and Samsung Galaxy Note II. It is a really slim device at 9.6mm and also has 1 GB RAM inside.
Lenovo K860 has five inches screen with 1,280×720 pixels resolution. It is the second biggest screen size after Samsung Galaxy Note II. There is eight megapixels camera on the back having support for hundred frames in continuous shooting. There is also 1080p HD video recording support.
There is also a two megapixels camera on the front for making video calls. This device has big 2,250 mAh battery inside. This battery is bigger than that on Samsung Galaxy SIII. This phone is available for 28 grand but you will get it for less in online markets.
