Ten least expensive Android smartphones having four inches or bigger display

Android OS is one of the most popular mobile phone OS right now second only to Apple’s iOS. It offers a great choice of applications and features for different prices. There is an Android phone for both entry level user and high end smartphone freaks.

We are covering the least expensive Android smartphones in the Indian markets. We are only including the ones which have display of four inches or bigger. All these are entry level handsets.

1. Byond B54 (Price Rs. 4,490) –

Byond is a smartphone manufacturer from Pune and Byond B54 is the least expensive Android smartphone in market right now. It is decent four inches screen with WVGA resolution of 480×800 pixels. This smartphone runs on Android Gingerbread v2.3.6. There is 1.3 MP front facing camera and 3 MP camera on the back.

Byond B54 comes with 1GHz processor inside with 256MB RAM. Other features include dual SIM capabilities, FM radio and 1,500 mAh capacity battery. There is four gigabytes of on board storage and microSD card slot can hold up to 32GB memory cards. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi but there is no GPS or 3G.

2. Karbonn Smart A2 (Price Rs. 4,800) –

This phone runs on Android 2.3 OS and it has big four inches screen with a WVGA resolution of 800×480 pixels. This phone runs on 1GHz processor. It is a relatively low end phone and doesn’t have features like GPS or 3G.

There is just 256 MB RAM inside but you still get proximity sensor. Karbonn Smart A2 runs on 1,750 mAh capacity battery. There is

three megapixels camera on back and VGA camera close to the display. Connectivity options include Edge, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

3. Micromax Smarty A65 (Price Rs. 4,999) -

Micromax Smarty A65 comes with 4.3 inches big display and it has resolution of 800×480 pixels. It is a dual SIM based phone running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. This phone runs on 1GHz processor and there is 512MB RAM which is impressive as phones in this price range have half of this RAM.

Micromax Smarty A65 has two megapixels camera with flash and there is also front facing VGA camera. There is 1,350 mAh capacity battery inside which has rated talk time of five hours.

However, the Micromax Smarty A65 doesn’t have 3G just like other entry level Android smartphones. Fortunately, you do get Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Edge.

4. Micromax A89 Ninja (Price Rs. 6,000) -

Micromax A89 Ninja comes with dual core 1GHz MediaTek MT6577 chip and it there is 512 MB RAM. It also has four inches WVGA display.

Micromax A89 Ninja comes with 2GB internal memory and there is microSD card slot which supports maximum of 32GB memory. This phone has Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

There is 1,450 mAh capacity battery inside and this phone comes with three megapixels camera without flash. Connectivity options include USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G. There is GPS support too. This phone has good feature set and still comes with modest price of Rs. 6,000.

5. Zen Ultraphone U4 (Price Rs. 6,499) –

This smartphone comes with 1GHz processor inside and it runs on Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread OS. There is 4.3 inches WVGA capacitive touchscreen having a resolution of 800×480 pixels and other features include GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Zen Ultraphone U4 has 3.2 megapixels camera along with flash and 1.3 megapixels front facing camera. 3G isn’t available. The microSD card slot accepts cards up to 32GB. The price of this phone is Rs. 6,499 and it is powered by 1,500 mAh capacity battery.

6. Micromax A68 Smarty (Price Rs. 6,500) –

This is the only phone in this list to have IPS display. A68 Smarty comes with four inches display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. Other features include Android 4.0.4 OS, 512 MB RAM, and 1GHz MediaTek MT6515 chip.

This is a dual SIM phone having five megapixels camera and 1,600 mAh capacity battery. This handset too doesn’t have 3G and there is no GPS either. There is front facing camera and proximity sensor.

Fortunately, the Micromax A68 Smarty comes with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Edge connectivity options. There is 4GB internal memory and 2GB is available for users. There is also microSD card slot which takes up to 32GB cards. The high quality screen is good and the performance is decent.

7. Spice Stellar Nhance Mi435 (Price Rs. 7,199) –

This is also a dual SIM smartphone having four inches capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 800×480 pixels. It runs on Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich OS. This phone has 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM.

Spice Stellar Nhance Mi435 comes with eight megapixels back camera having fixed focus. It features video recording, digital 5x zoom, and CMOS sensor. There is also 1.3 megapixels front facing camera to make video calls.

For connectivity, this phone comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPRS and microUSB port. This handset has features like A-GPS, FM radio, music player, 2GB storage, 1,500 mAh capacity battery, and 32GB expandable memory.

The feature set on this phone is better than the others mentioned above and hence it is also a bit expensive for Rs. 7,199. We will soon cover a full review of this phone.

8. Videocon A30 (Price Rs. 7,500) -

Videocon A30 is a dual SIM phone having dual core 1GHz Qualcomm processor inside and it has Android 4.0 aka ICS OS inside. The capacitive touchscreen is four inches big and other features on this phone include FM radio along with recording, 1,500 mAh capacity battery, 32GB max expandable memory, GPRS, Bluetooth, EDGE, WCDMA, and other goodies like A-GPS, GPS, and Wi-Fi.

There is five megapixels camera on the back and VGA front facing camera. There is 4GB internal memory and 512MB RAM. This phone costs Rs. 7,500.

Videocon A30

9. Lava Iris N400 (Price Rs. 6,499) -

Lava Iris N400 has dual SIM capabilities and this phone has Android ICS OS.  This handset runs on 1GHz processor and there is 512MB RAM. The display of this phone is four inches big and it has WVGA resolution.  There is five megapixels camera on rear side and on front, there is VGA camera to make video calls.

Lava Iris N400 comes with USB and Bluetooth connectivity and other features include Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE, and 3G. This phone runs on 1,500 mAh capacity battery and it has 32GB expandable memory, and FM radio. Price of this phone is Rs. 6,499. Stay tuned for a full review of this phone soon.

Lava Iris N400

10. Zopo ZP 100 Pilot (Price Rs. 7,599) –

Chances are that you haven’t heard of Zopo brand and we really don’t blame you if you haven’t. This is a new company and their latest phone – Zopo ZP 100 Pilot has latest chip of MTK6575 inside. This phone runs on Cortex A9 1GHz processor and there is 512MB RAM inside. There is also 4GB ROM.

It is an Android 4.0 OS phone having 4.3 inches screen. It has superior wide angle visibility and comes with qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels.

Zopo ZP 100 Pilot comes with five megapixels camera with autofocus and CMOS sensor. There is also support for HD 720p video. This handset runs on 1,650 mAh capacity battery which is fairly big. This dual SIM handset has features inside like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, and you get all sensors that you’d expect in an Android phone.

Zopo ZP 100 Pilot

The feature set of this phone is superior and it comes with better camera and display quality as compared to the aforementioned phones. The price is Rs. 6,999 and you need to pay Rs. 600 more for shipping. This mobile phone is available only on the manufacturer’s Website at zopomobiles.in.
