Sony Xperia GO – powered by 2.3.7 Gingerbread operating system
With changing times and the plethora of choices in the market, buying phone isn’t a cakewalk anymore. Welcome to the world of Sony Xperia, where bespoke aesthetics meets cutting-edge technology.
UnderXperia, Sony has launched a series of stylish android phones loaded withan number of breathtaking features. The latest one to join this bandwagon is Sony Xperia GO. This mid-range android phone is sturdy, dust and water resistant. This tough phone can handle a plenty of damages including bumps and scrapes.
Sony Xperia GO Design :
This bar-shaped phone is crisp thin and lighter than most of the recent Sony Xperia phones. With the bar for a design shape, this exudes a corporate look yet oozes with style; check out the classy-looking Vibrant Yellow panel available in the phone –it is reminiscent of the retro/vintage eras. Features like the Proximity sensor and the Ambient Light sensor also enhance the display and user experience of the phone. Sony Xperia GO is pretty much more compact with a 60 x 111 x 9.9mm body and lighter at a slender 108g. Known to be sturdy, this phone is for rough users and for those who are always on the go. The Mobile Bravia Engine further improves the display quality.
Sony Xperia GO Build :
This phone is ideal for those with butter fingers. With a stiff body, this handset gives you a firm grip. Although the phone doesn’t work under water, it doesn’t wear out if accidentally dropped in water. During rains, the touch screen would require minimum attention that can be taken care of with proper cover or casing of the phone. With a little casing, this phone can also survive the rains well. Apart from little or no mechanical glitches, this phone has not too many cons that you need to watch out for.
To simply put, this phone will be at its durable best, come wind, rain or sunshine…
Sony Xperia GO Hardware :
It can be called an ideal smartphone thanks to a gazillion of features loaded in the slender mid-range android phone. Although the resolution isn’t quite commendable, the screen size is just right at 3.5 inches. Pre-loaded with a Gingerbread OS, there is news afloat in the market that an ICS upgrade should soon be available.
The 3.5-inch TFT Capacitive Touchscreen and Bravia Engine make for a perfect combination to watch High-Def pictures and videos. The show-stopper of features is the 1 GHz Cortex-A9 Dual Core Processor, this phone is quick and hardly hangs. Other features include wifi connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS navigation, Wifi Hotspot etc. Expandable Storage Capacity of 32 GBsharp’ display that Sony describes.
Sony Xperia GO Camera :
Sony Xperia handset cameras hardly disappoint you. Even a 5MP primary camera looks promising and provides crispier and sharper pictures.Video can be recorded at up to 1280 x 720 resolutions. The only letdown here is that the phone does not have a front camera like its entry-level Sony Xperia U.
Sony Xperia GO Software :
The phone comes with an Android version 2.3.7 Gingerbread operating system. As per the company, users would soon get an upgrade to an android upgrade to version 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich. Tempting as it sounds, those who’d like to see an immediate upgrade could be left disappointed Sony Xperia Go is a very user-friendly device that comes with a decent user interface. Added points that may or may not be liked by many are the pre-loaded apps out of which only few can be uninstalled.
With a superfast processor and an almost up-to-date android, the OS runs pretty hassle-free and comes with inbuilt integration with social networking sites like facebook. The only drawback is that these apps run in the background unless you log out of them, consuming a considerable amount, and without an option to uninstall them..
Sony Xperia GO Battery :
Battery’s always been a hassle for android users who are connected to the internet on the go. This phone too is no exception when it comes to battery consumption. With a 4.8 non-removable battery, the phone can peeve many-a-users. If you are one of the light/ non-internet users and non-3G user, you can expect 3-4 day longevity of the battery.
Sony Xperia GO Price :
Sony Xperia GO smartphone comes for a price tag of Rs. 17,350/-
Pros :
The 3.5-inch TFT Capacitive Touchscreen and Bravia Engine make for a perfect combination to watch High-Def pictures and videos. The show-stopper of features is the 1 GHz Cortex-A9 Dual Core Processor, this phone is quick and hardly hangs
Cons :
When you talk about hardware and software features, the entry level Sony Ericson U wins points over the latest GO smartphone. With the era of Android 4.0 Icecream Sandwhich, this gadget still works on 2.3.7 Gingerbread operating system. Also, no upgrade is expected soon.
The Verdict :
Litle known is that the phone also works as a USB host, i.e. USB on the Go. It has fully scratch-proof body. It also comes with SenseMe application from Sony –you can play songs according to your mood. When you talk about hardware and software features, the entry level U wins points over GO. Also, at around 19k the phone is little too steep for the features that it provide. Unlike most other handsets that are currently available, this phone is well-protected from dust and water.
However, when it comes to style and sensibilities, the phone is hands down one of the smartest of the choices.
