Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S Review
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is the new cellphone launched after its predecessor Xperia Arc. However, there are several features that we liked most in the older version. Still, when it comes to the design part, this one rocks on the floor and you cannot even let it go from your hand so easily. Excluding the stress of price, the Sony Ericsson Xperia S comes as a high end smartphone with some amazing features integrated in it. So, let us have a look further to get the insight about this device and its positive aspects.
Design and Display :
The dimensions of Sony Xperia Arc S measures 125 mm by 63 mm by 8.7 mm and weighs 117 gram which makes this device lighter and sexier at the same time. The design is what makes us lured entirely, but we do have to look for the rest of features as well. The bottom of the long screen locates three angular metallic buttons that navigate you through the menu. The brand Xperia can be found right below the buttons that enhances the overall look and feel of this smartphone.
The plasticky feel at the rear could be disappointing, but it does not affect the build quality. Instead, the device is very durable and build with quality material. There is a primary camera at the back which is very impressive, but many could end up touching the lens of the camera while clicking pictures as it is placed at the top where no proper space is left to hold the device. USB ports and dedicated volume rocker are also available at the sides of this mobile.
Considering the display of this device, it sports multitouch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. The display is highly responsive and features 480 by 854 pixels of resolution. The Sony Xperia Arc S sports 4.2 inches of touch sensitive screen that comes with scratch resistant glass, Timescape UI and Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine. The phone comes with a number of body color choices – Gloss Black, Midnight Blue, Pure White, Misty Silver, and Sakura Pink.

All the significant ports are offered by Samsung in its attractive mobile phone which includes a 3.5 mm headset jack, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi hotspot, microUSB v2.0 with USB On-the go support, and v2.1 with A2DP, EDR Bluetooth. You will be able to enjoy up to 86 kbps of GPRS, up to 237 kbps of EDGE, and 14.4 Mbps HSDPA / 5.8 Mbps HSUPA speed. There are also HDMI port and A-GPS support to the device which have become an important demand from the users.
Camera :
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is equipped with a high resolution primary camera at its back with 8 megapixel sensor. The camera features 3264 by 2448 pixels of resolution, LED flash, autofocus, and check quality. Now what else do we require on this high-end super-beautiful phone when a phone becomes super-powerful camera and gives access to a lot of other things. Through this enchanting camera you can enjoy features such as face and smile detection, touch focus, video calling, geo tagging, image stabilization, and 3D sweep panorama. Moreover, 720p@30fps video recording will be fun and a unique experience, which will be improved by video light, continuous autofocus, check quality, and video stabilizer.

However, there is no secondary camera that the manufacturer has offered to its Arc series and it could be a major drawback as many demand a front facing camera these days.
Processor and Operating System :
The Xperia Arc S runs Android v2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system and has planned to upgrade this version to the latest operating system which is named as v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Still, you get amazing browsing speed where all your downloading and browsing processes are done quickly. The phone is run by 1.4 Ghz Scorpion Adreno 205 processor that enables the device to gear up the booting time of phone as well as apps. Common sensors that are offered in high end smartphones are all present in this device – proximity, accelerometer and compass.
Overall Performance :
SMS in threaded view, email, MMS, Push Email, and IM are some of the messaging features that give distinct user experience. Also installed are the A-GPS support, stereo FM radio with RDS, HTML and Adobe Flash, active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, and many others. The phone is integrated with YouTube, Google Talk, Calendar, NeoReader barcode scanner, maps, Gmail, Google Search, Facebook and Twitter, and document viewer. Therefore, you can simply fulfill your dreams and pass your quality time in getting entertained while making a long journey.
Battery :
As far as the battery backup is concerned, Sony Ericsson has given this device pretty good boost due to which its users will be able to enjoy some extra time in socializing with friends. The phone can easily give you a run through the day. It is a standard Li-Polymer 1500 mAh battery which is not that advanced, but still gives you up to 460 hours of standby back up on 3G and up to 7 hours 35 minutes on 3G for talk time. You can play music for up to 37 hours constantly and the phone will just let to dance with the rhythm.
Price :
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S price is around Rs. 22,875 which will be decreased further if you make an online purchase on discount price from any retailer.
Pros :
Good build quality, 8 megapixel primary camera at the rear, Android Gingerbread operating system, and hi-rez BRAVIA LED display.
Cons :
The phone lacks secondary, front facing camera for video calling which is highly demanded by uses these days, especially businessmen who needs to often stay in conference. The battery could have been more powerful to beat the other high-end smartphones on the market.
Verdict :

If you find something missing or not up to the mark as per your demands then we will only say there are many other high end smartphones available on the market at this price tag and that too loaded with the latest v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. So, the choice is yours and you have to make a wise decision. We would say that the device has retained amazing design, great 8MP camera and several good features.
