Samsung Galaxy Ace Design :
Samsung Galaxy Ace is a decent smartphone that can be said as a mid-range cellphone in just one glance. Not that the device is very ugly or unattractive, but it is its screen and the material that talk about its story. It is the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 which was once gained good attention in the market due to its attractive price. However, not many have planned to buy it due to the lack of high-end features. Even though it has Android and fully touch screen, the device has failed and stayed as just another normal phone.

The design is somewhat similar to that of iPhone 4, but the 3.5 inches of TFT screen differentiates it from other Android smartphones. The Samsung Ace has 320 by 480 pixels and the display is very responsive when you tap on a menu. However, it has been found that the phone lags and jerks when we slide an image. The phone holds a list of similarities such as bezel that can be found applied around the screen and is somewhat similar to that of iPhone 4 as per their sizes. However, the single large physical key that is placed at the bottom of the screen reminds us that it is a Samsung style and not an Apple style. Two different versions are available of the same brand with white and black color options. There is no difference in specs or features, excluding the color choices. A silver chrome plastic line has been added on the side of the phone. You will find a volume rocker positioned at the left side, a microSD card slot is provided at the middle right side of the phone and a lock key at the top of the card slot are available for convenience. The phone holds a microSD card slot that reads up to 32 GB memory externally. Included memory is of just 2 GB which could still be enough for general usage. The internal memory storage is of 158 MB and 278 MB RAM.

There is an external microSD card slot given at the side of the phone to access additional memory of up to 32 GB. Besides, the phone includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and WI-Fi hotspot, microUSB, and a 3.5mm headset jack. You can use GPRS and EDGE, but the HSDPA speed is of just 7.2 Mbps.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera along with auto focus option for better pictures. The camera works fine with the LED flash that gives lively pictures even in dark. The rear cover of the phone also sits a speakerphone which could be a bit traditional type for many. The camera gives good clarity with good resolution (2592 by 1944 pixels). The phone features Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset with 800 MHz ARM 11 processor. It has Adreno 200 GPU and sensors such as compass, proximity and accelerometer. Also provided is the HTML browser, Stereo FM radio with RDS, GPS with A-GPS support, and Java. The Samsung Galaxy Ace has received a Li-ion 1350 mAh standard battery under its hood that gives a stand by backup of up to 640 hours on 2G and up to 420 hours on 3G. Moreover, the talktime backup is up to 11 hours on 2G and up to 6.30 hours on 3G.

The phone was launched with a starting price of around $350. In India, the pricing for this smartphone is around Rs. 12,500. Several online stores are selling this phone for the price tag of Rs. 12,400/-
Pros of Samsung Galaxy Ace :
Samsung Galaxy Ace is compatible with Google Navigation. It has decent 5 MP camera. You can easily set up webmail. The phone is light in weight and feels good in hand. It has good battery life.
Cons of Samsung Galaxy Ace :
The phone provides slow internet connection. It is even gives laggy and jerky response when the apps are swiped. The screen is of low quality and there is no social media option provided. There are several pre-loaded apps which cannot be uninstalled.
Verdict :
The phone can be rated as average as there are many features that would have had provided if it would have been a high-end phone. As per the features and Samsung Galaxy Ace specs, the price is very affordable. The good points are 5MP camera, external microSD card slot and other shortcut buttons added to the phone. Unfortunately, the bad points seem to be dominating the good points, where the only satisfaction is the price of this smartphone that is loaded with Gingerbread operating system.
